CCRC COURTSIDE CHAT VOLUME XII: ALYSSA

Name: Alyssa

AKA: Lys

Age: 18 3/4

How long have you worked at CCRC? This is my second summer working at CCRC.

Favorite Thing to Eat at CCRC: I would say the Turkey Wrap because I know it's more exciting for Griffin to make than the grilled cheese, and its filling and lightweight!

Best Part of Working at CCRC: I definitely love getting to see my sister everyday, because it lets me get to see her more than just at home. I love interacting with all the members everyday and it's awesome being recognized by members, even if you do forget our names. I think we have a great staff this summer and it is never a bad day when you work with any of them.

Worst Part of Working at CCRC: Standing in the 100 degree heat when there are only 4 members at the pool, and staring at the water and not being able to go in.

Do you play tennis? For how long? Did you play at CCRC? Do you or did you play any other sports? I have never touched a tennis racket before. I feel like I would be OK at tennis though, maybe. Growing up I played select volleyball, actually at the club before I even knew the Racquet Club was here and would practice every Monday and Wednesday nights in the back building. I played soccer which I realized very quickly I was not the best at, same as basketball. (Puricelli's should NEVER play basketball.) I swam and played racquetball in high school, so there is my racquet sport.

Are you still in school? What are you studying? I just graduated from the wonderful, good ole Notre Dame, not the be confused with the college, which many people have thought. I will be attending Rockhurst University in beautiful Kansas City, where I will be majoring in Business, possible emphasis on Marketing, but definitely not the medical field because blood and guts are gross.

Most amount of racquets you've strung in a day? Nope, nota, not a single one.

Most covers in a dining room shift? Maybe close to 100? 150? I am not entirely sure.

What is it like to work for a family business? I like it a lot. I love how involved all three of them are. You always see Dan around, and it is always awesome to see Deb and Dani. You can tell they thoroughly enjoy running this business. I don't feel the pressure of making a mistake because I know they will always have my back.

Weirdest thing that has ever happened to you working here (or been asked to you on the phone): Someone has asked me where the putting green is before and I had to look at them and explain that we are a racquet club.

Favorite Member to see walk thru the doors: This is a really hard one. I really like everyone, as long as you give me a smile when you walk through the door. I really enjoy seeing Mrs. Goldberg everyday and I know she always will order a Turkey Wrap with a fruit cup, or seeing anyone in the Holst, Shak, McNulty, Sanders group, or the DeRosa clan.

Tennis Pro or employee you most admire: I really admire Matt. He is the first Pro I met and we always banter back and forth and he is constantly making me laugh. He is such a hard worker on and off the court. He seems to really enjoy doing what he does and it isn't a 'job' to him, but more-so he gets to go and play tennis all day everyday.

What is something that you want members to know about you that they don't? For my 18th birthday I went skydiving. I am a little bit of an adrenaline junkie. Any task that ends with food as a reward, I'll do it. I do make a mean, 15 second thrown in the microwave, chocolate fudge pop tart.

Which would you rather win: Stanley Cup, World Series, World Cup, Rider Cup, Superbowl, NBA Championship,PGA Tour event, etc, Wimbledon, US Open, French Open, Australian Open. I would love to win the World Cup, even though I am not great at soccer. I feel like soccer is very interesting and there is always something happening. You have to constantly be watching or else you may miss something. I think it would be really awesome to play against other countries and be a representative of the USA.

What song would you want played when you walk out onto the court or field? Feels Great by Cheat Codes. I feel like it really has a great beat, and it gets you in the mood to kick butt on the court.

What racquet do you play with? I play with an electric blue, Head Innegra. It's the best racquetball racket there is, if I do say so myself.

What is your happiest memory at CCRC? 4th of July this year because I felt like everyone was just super excited to be there and there was such great energy. I would also say my very first shift this summer with Charlie, Michael and Griffin. They are an awesome set of boys to work with.

Note from Dani -

As many of you may know, Alyssa is Katie's little sister - but she is more than that! She is a smart, funny, hard-working and confident young woman. I love seeing her face when I walk through the door!
